St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Advocate for Return of School Management to Alumni
Led by the '74 set Chairman, Mr. Ivoh Ekpe, the Old Boys, including retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Bode Rhodes-Vivour, expressed their passion for developing their alma mater. Rhodes-Vivour stated, "All the development in St. Gregory’s College is done by the old boys.
During the unveiling of a solar lighting project and the replacement of saints' glasses in the chapel at St. Gregory's College, Ikoyi, the Old Boys Association emphasized the need for the government to hand over the administration of secondary schools to former students for enhanced quality.
Led by the '74 set Chairman, Mr. Ivoh Ekpe, the Old Boys, including retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Bode Rhodes-Vivour, expressed their passion for developing their alma mater. Rhodes-Vivour stated, "All the development in St. Gregory’s College is done by the old boys. The government should hand over the schools back to the old students. The old students will not have any challenge to sustain the quality of the school because their standard is much, much higher."

Hon. Justice Adeniyi Ademola, the national president of St. Gregory’s College Old Boys, echoed this sentiment, suggesting that schools should be returned to the missions and owners, asserting that the government doesn't have a role in the matter.
Mr. Ken Oboh, an old boy from the '65 set, argued that the government lacks the financial capacity to administer and fund schools, proposing that returning schools to missionaries and owners would enable them to finance and upgrade the institutions.

However, Dr. John Abebe of the 1964 set suggested a balanced approach, advocating for private-public participation and encouraging the government to reduce taxes for school owners to facilitate more investment in school development.
