The University Of Abuja has recorded the exit of additional accreditation teams participating in the November/December 2025 National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise, following the completion of assessments across several academic programmes.

The University Of Abuja has recorded the exit of additional accreditation teams participating in the November/December 2025 National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise, following the completion of assessments across several academic programmes.

On Thursday, teams evaluating the BSc programmes in Broadcasting; Development And Communication Studies; Film And Multimedia Studies; Information And Media Studies; and Journalism And Media Studies concluded their reviews. The groups were led by Professor Danjuma Gambo of the University of Maiduguri and Professor Maryam Ibrahim of Ahmadu Bello University.

Yesterday, Friday 21 November 2025, the accreditation team for the BSc Public Relations, Advertising, And Strategic Communication programme, led by Professor Peter Esuh of the University of Uyo, also exited the University.

Other teams that wrapped up their assessments on Friday include BSc Botany, led by Professor Kabiru Abdullahi of the Federal University Gusau; Geology And Gemology, led by Professor Alexander Opara of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri; and BSc Economics, led by Professor Aham Ikwumezie of Imo State University. Additional exits included the BSc Nursing team, led by Professor Babayo Muhammad Tukur of the University of Maiduguri, as well as the MBA and Executive MBA teams, led by Professor Ahmed Audu Maiyaki.

During their exit meetings, the various panels commended Uniabuja for its strong research culture, high-quality publications, extensive e-library resources, and the notable number of PhD holders among junior faculty members. They described the curricula across programmes as rich, innovative, and in alignment with the NUC’s BMAS and CCMAS benchmarks. The teams also identified select areas requiring enhancement to further strengthen academic quality and programme delivery.

In his response, Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Mathew Adamu expressed appreciation to the NUC leadership for deploying seasoned academics to conduct the exercise. He affirmed that the insights gathered will support Uniabuja’s drive toward global competitiveness and reiterated management’s commitment to addressing all identified grey areas.
