In a letter addressed to the SUG President, Dean of Student Affairs, Senate, and Vice Chancellor, Bukar highlighted the numerous challenges students encounter, including high tuition fees, transportation costs, health issues, and comprehension difficulties. He emphasized that these challenges often lead to students failing courses, resulting in extended academic stays.
Bukar proposed the introduction of a short third semester, similar to the GST model, to enable students to clear failed courses promptly. He cited the recent adoption of a similar system by Nassarawa State University as a precedent.
