Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Implements Zero-Tolerance Policy for Hostel Regulations
The management of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil (ADUSTW), has initiated a strict new enforcement policy regarding student hostel regulations for the 2026 academic year.
Effective immediately, the university administration will adopt a zero-tolerance policy toward violations of rules pertaining to hygiene, fire safety, and campus security.
In a circular issued on January 9, 2026, the Dean of Student Affairs noted that a recent administrative review identified lapses in adherence to existing regulations, compromising the standards of a safe and conducive living environment.
Key Regulations and Enforcement Areas
To ensure the well-being of all residents, the university is reiterating that existing regulations carry strict penalties for non-compliance:
Hygiene and Environmental Sanitation
Prohibition of Open Defecation: Strictly forbidden; students must use designated restroom facilities.
Waste Management: Littering is not tolerated; all waste must be disposed of in provided bins.
Water Usage: Splashing or plumbing water in walkways, common areas, or balconies is prohibited to prevent hazards and structural damage.
Electrical Appliances and Fire Safety
Banned Items: Heavy-duty appliances such as hot plates, electric cookers, immersion heaters, and refrigerators are strictly prohibited in the hostels to prevent fire outbreaks and electrical overloads.
Cooking: Only permitted in designated kitchenette areas using approved methods (e.g., gas cylinders within approved cages).
High-Value Gadgets: Students are strongly discouraged from the ostentatious display of expensive items like handsets or jewelry. The university explicitly states it will not be held liable for the loss of high-value items kept in student rooms.
ID Cards: For security purposes, all students must carry their University ID cards at all times and present them upon request by security personnel.
The university administration is urging all new and returning students to familiarize themselves with these regulations and ensure full compliance to maintain a safe and respectful community for all residents.
