Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State today welcomed a group of teachers recently trained by the Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) in sign language. These teachers are now equipped to provide specialized training for students with special needs in the state.

The special needs teachers underwent their training at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This initiative is part of the state’s broader efforts to improve educational opportunities for all children, regardless of their abilities.

During the reception, Governor Diri expressed his gratitude to the EDTF for sponsoring the training program. In a gesture of support and encouragement, Governor Diri offered automatic employment to all twelve teachers who have successfully completed their training out of the fifteen initially enrolled. “I’m happy seeing you, graduating from your training, and today, you also want to add to the growth and development of education in Bayelsa State,” he added.
