In the 35th Convocation Lecture of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, delivered a keynote address urging higher education stakeholders to prioritize multi-skill training for students. Speaking on 'Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present-day Economy,' Gbajabiamila highlighted the impact of technological advances on traditional employment skills. He emphasized that 21st-century education should empower individuals to operate effectively in various fields, challenging the status quo and fostering disruption and reinvention.
Gbajabiamila urged a comprehensive review of curricula and teaching methods to align with global labor needs, advocating for aggressive and sustained investment in education, including technology hardware and software. He underlined the significance of preparing students for global competition, not only against each other but also against technology replacing human functions in the workplace.
