In a move set to revolutionize education in Southeast Nigeria, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as an institutional partner for the Southeast Education Transformation Conference (SEEDUCON) 2024.
SEEDUCON 2024, slated to convene from October 30th to 31st, aims to bring together educational institutions, policymakers, stakeholders, and innovators to redefine the future of education in the region. With a special focus on "UmuAkwukwo Ndi Igbo," the conference seeks to address the shortcomings of traditional education models and pave the way for a more dynamic and exportable educational system.
Mrs. Chinwe Nweke, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping the region's future, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4. She stressed the need for a shift away from conventional teaching methods towards more innovative and adaptive approaches, turning classrooms into hubs of innovation and creativity.
Key themes to be explored during SEEDUCON 2024 include inclusive and equitable development, lifelong learning, AI integration, digital accessibility, personalized learning experiences, and the cultivation of youth productivity and marketable skills.

Speaking on COOU's involvement, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, Ag. Vice Chancellor of COOU, highlighted the institution's commitment to supporting educational initiatives. She expressed enthusiasm for the collaborative opportunities and intellectual exchanges the conference will facilitate.
Heading COOU's delegation for SEEDUCON 2024 is Prof. Nneka Nnorom, Dean of the Faculty of Education, who will serve as Chairman of the University Committee. Joining her are esteemed members including Prof. K. K. Nwozor, Prof. Njideka Ebisi, Prof. Johnpaul Iloh, and Dr. Harrison Madubueze.
SEEDUCON 2024 targets a diverse array of stakeholders, including university administrators, education ministry officials, school managers, teachers, students, parents, and representatives from international and ICT agencies.
