In a recent revelation, Professor Godwin Onyebueke, a Consultant Physician at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, has shed light on the increasing prevalence of diabetes and hypertension in Nigeria. Speaking at a Free Medical Outreach sponsored by former Vice-chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, Prof. Onyebueke attributed the surge in these health conditions to the stress induced by economic hardships.

The outreach, held in Nsukka, Enugu State, aimed to provide medical assistance to the local community, especially those unable to access regular healthcare services. According to Prof. Onyebueke, many individuals diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension were unaware of their conditions, highlighting the importance of regular medical check-ups for early detection and intervention.
