FULafia Staff Productivity and Promotion Unit Hosts Leadership Training for New Deans, Directors
Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Staff Productivity and Promotion Unit (SPPU) organizes leadership training for new deans, directors, and deputies to boost productivity and enhance management skills.

The Staff Productivity and Promotion Unit (SPPU) of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has successfully conducted a one-day leadership training for newly appointed deans, directors, and their deputies. The training, themed "Effective Leadership Skills for University Management," aimed to equip participants with essential leadership tools to effectively manage their roles.
Held at the MIS Multi-purpose Hall on the University’s Permanent Site Campus, the event was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman. In his remarks, Professor Abdul Rahman emphasized the importance of impactful leadership, encouraging participants to utilize the training to drive excellence in their roles.
“It is not just about gaining positions, but making an impact and adding value to others and the system,” he stated, reiterating the University's commitment to staff development and training as part of its overall success strategy.
Professor Abdul Rahman also announced plans for future leadership training to be conducted by the FULafia Centre for Leadership Studies, ensuring continuous capacity building for the next generation of leaders.
The head of the SPPU, Mrs. Becky Kajo, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support in organizing the training. She highlighted the event's significance in preparing staff for the challenges of leadership within the University.
Key attendees included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Ishaq Ali Shugaba, alongside other staff members. They expressed gratitude for the opportunity to refine their leadership and management skills, pledging to apply the knowledge gained to enhance productivity and efficiency in their respective roles.
The training featured lectures on topics such as “Credibility in Leadership” delivered by Professor Abdul Rahman, and “Soft Skills for the 21st Century Leaders” presented by Professor Josephine Odey. Participants engaged in group discussions and practical exercises to consolidate their learning.
