The Center for Entrepreneurship at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), organized a one-day orientation programme on July 2, 2024, to prepare 300-level students for the compulsory course, ENT 302. This 3-unit course, essential for graduation, aims to equip students with the necessary skills to excel in their future careers.

In her opening remarks, Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Development, Professor Sunday Oluyamo, highlighted the importance of engaging students in various vocational activities. She emphasized the need for entrepreneurial skills in today's world and encouraged students to actively participate and ask questions during the training.

The keynote lecture, "Unleashing Entrepreneurial Greatness: The Game-Changing Skill for Exceptional Success," was delivered by Professor Tomola Obamuyi, a former Director of the University Advancement Centre and current Chairman of the FUTA Radio Board. Professor Obamuyi, an expert in Banking and Finance, inspired students to embrace entrepreneurship to distinguish themselves among their peers. He cited statistics showing that 63% of Nigerians are multidimensionally poor due to a lack of adequate skills. He emphasized the importance of vocational, soft, and hard skills, firm leadership traits, and effective communication skills in transforming ideas into sustainable businesses.

The event also featured commendations from Mr. Balogun Babatunde, Ondo State Coordinator for Entrepreneurship, and Mr. Babatunde Ayodeji, Chief Executive Officer of Life More Global. They praised the university for its life-improving initiative and encouraged students to focus on their entrepreneurial development, describing it as a game changer.

Professor Oladunni Daramola, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, reiterated that ENT 302 is mandatory for all 300-level students in their second semester. She stressed the importance of attending sensitization seminars and other talks organized by the center. Professor Daramola expressed gratitude to the speakers for their insightful lectures and interactive discussions, which provided valuable guidance to the students.
