Kaduna Education Sector Advances with Support from the PLANE Programme
The Acting Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB), Mr. Mubarak Mohammed, has commended the support and collaboration provided by the PLANE programme in strengthening the state’s education sector.
Speaking during a three-day refresher training on Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) and Early Grade Mathematics Assessment (EGMA) for Assessors and Lesson Observers, held at Hotel Seventeen, Mr. Mohammed urged participants to prioritize the collection of high-quality data.
He highlighted the achievements recorded through the PLANE programme, including significant policy reviews and successful implementation of reforms.
Mr. Mohammed also addressed one of the sector’s critical challenges — the issue of out-of-school children — noting that Governor Senator Uba Sani has launched targeted programmes to tackle the problem.
He expressed concern that the efforts and progress made within the education sector are often underreported. To address this, he emphasized the need for the Ministry of Education to actively communicate its achievements and showcase ongoing improvements.
Underscoring the importance of reliable data, Mr. Mohammed stated that the state government has officially adopted the State Bureau of Statistics as the sole source of credible education data in Kaduna.
