KWASU Vice-Chancellor Hosts Iftar; Urges Staff to Sustain Ramadan Virtues Beyond the Holy Month

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, hosted members of the University’s extended management team to an Iftar (breaking of fast) at his residence.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to members of the extended management team who attended the Iftar irrespective of religious affiliation, describing their presence as a demonstration of unity, mutual respect and love within the University community.

Professor Jimoh stressed the importance of love and fellowship as the key driver of successful organisations, noting that the month of Ramadan encouraged Muslims to imbibe healthy habits that should transcend beyond the period of the holy month.

Delivering the Ramadan sermon at the gathering, the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professor Abdus-Sami'i Imam Arikewuyo, described Ramadan as a month of immense blessings, compassion, love, tolerance and complete righteousness.

He reminded the Muslim faithful that the Qur’an highlights special rewards reserved in the hereafter for those who observe fasting sincerely and give generously for the sake of Allah.

Professor Arikewuyo emphasised that Ramadan is a strategic spiritual training ground that calls for sincere generosity to family, orphans, less privileged friends, and colleagues, and cautioned that giving back to society during the month of Ramadan should not be done as an act of eye service but purely to seek the pleasure of Allah. He urged Muslims to purge their hearts of ill feelings, embrace brotherly love, and live by the principle of wishing for others what they wish for themselves.

He further charged the faithful to extend the virtues and lessons of Ramadan beyond the holy month by sustaining acts of charity, compassion, tolerance, and God-consciousness in both private and public life, describing Ramadan as a foundation for consistent righteous living.
