The Department of General English at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) successfully organized the first Conference on English Language Teaching in Nigeria (CONELTIN), marking a significant milestone in educational discourse.

The two-day conference, themed around language technology and professionalism in English language teaching, drew a diverse array of educators, researchers, and language enthusiasts from across Nigeria and beyond. Participants engaged in robust discussions, sharing experiences, best practices, and insights gleaned from disciplines such as Applied Linguistics, Educational Technology, and Digital Literacies.

Malam Abdulkabir Abdullahi, the conference coordinator, highlighted its objective of uniting researchers, lecturers, teachers, and practitioners passionate about integrating technology into language education. He underscored the workshop's role in creating a supportive platform for collaborative research and exploration of technology's impact on language learning in today's dynamic world.

Featuring over 30 research papers, CONELTIN explored topics ranging from the challenges and prospects of technology in language education to innovative digital tools for language assessment and enhancing phonics instruction through technology. Discussions also centered on promoting interactive learning environments and addressing reading difficulties in Nigerian primary schools.

The conference, co-sponsored by Globus Bank, included insightful sessions that sparked thought-provoking dialogues, encouraging participants to elevate their teaching methodologies and embrace digital innovations.

In his opening remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, President of MAAUN, emphasized the conference's role in showcasing the latest advancements in language technology and their transformative impact on communication and education. He lauded the participants for their commitment to professional development and academic excellence.
