NBTE Issues Warning on Mandatory Industrial Training for National Diploma Holders

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has issued a directive to Rectors and Provosts of Polytechnics and Monotechnics regarding the mandatory one-year industrial training for National Diploma (ND) holders.

According to the directive, students who have not completed the industrial training program will not be mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. The industrial training is a prerequisite for admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.

The NBTE has noticed that some institutions have been sending names of students who have not participated in the mandatory industrial training program for NYSC mobilization. The Board has warned against this practice, emphasizing that only students who have completed the industrial training program will be eligible for NYSC mobilization.

The Director of SIWES and Student Affairs, Bilkisu M. Daku, signed the directive on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje. A copy of the letter has been sent to the Director General of NYSC for his information and further action.
