NIPOST Pays Courtesy Visit to AKSU VC and Assures of Better Service Delivery

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in Akwa Ibom State has assured of better service delivery to Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU). This assurance was given during a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nse U. Essien, warmly welcomed the new State Postal Manager of NIPOST, Dr. Chris Uzoma Ashiel, and his team to AKSU. He spoke highly of the hospitable and peaceful nature of Akwa Ibom State and urged Dr. Ashiel to make the most of his stay in the State. Prof. Essien emphasised the importance of NIPOST's role in the University system and the need to maintain a robust relationship with the Agency. He also instructed the University staff working with NIPOST to provide him with necessary details for better synergy.

Dr. Ashiel, the new State Postal Manager, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the University for their continuous patronage. He stated that the purpose of the visit was to discuss ways to enhance service delivery to the University and the need to renew AKSU's Postal Mail Bag (P.M.B). He also addressed other important issues and assured of better service delivery with appropriate discounts.

Mrs. Martha Ikpong, the Manager of Corporate Communications at NIPOST, Akwa Ibom State, mentioned that according to NIPOST regulations, every receipt issued to a student attracts a fee of Fifty Naira (₦50.00), which must be remitted to NIPOST for the receipt to be tenable.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Oto-Abasi Akpan, acknowledged God for journey mercies and commended the Vice-Chancellor for his swift audience as well as the renewal of the University's transactions with NIPOST. He affirmed that NIPOST remains the most affordable and integral part of the University's communication system compared to other information dissemination outfits.

Present during the visit were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Ita Ewa-Oboho; Representative of the Registrar and Secretary to Council, who is the Director/Secretary, School of PostGraduate Studies, Mrs. Immaculata Effiong; the Bursar, Dr. Jacob M. Eseneyen; the Principal Assistant Registrar/Head of Administration, Vice-Chancellor's Office, Mr. Akaninyene Ibanga; staff of the Directorate of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol. From the Nigerian Postal Service were: Manager, EMS/Speed, Mrs. Eucharia Ulasi; Post Manager, Ikot Ekpene, Mr. Eno Ekpenyong and Mrs. Emem Umoh of Corporate Communications.
