Participants of the flagship Institute of Governance and Development Studies (IGDS) at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, have commended the Institute’s leadership for organizing a two-day workshop on research methodology. Held from September 13th to 14th, 2024, the workshop aimed to demystify the complexities of thesis and research writing.

The closing ceremony, which took place at the S.B Mohammed Auditorium, saw participants express their gratitude to the Institute’s Director, Professor Andrew Zamani, and his team. They praised the workshop’s impact, noting that the resource persons thoroughly addressed key aspects of research and thesis writing, transforming what many viewed as a daunting process into an accessible one. According to the attendees, the workshop has provided clarity and practical guidance, easing the academic journey of scholars.

The Vice-Chancellor, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Theophilus Daniel Lagi, opened the event. He conveyed the University’s appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing its commitment to a research-driven academic culture. Dr. Usman Alhaji Yusuf, Deputy Director of IGDS, in his welcome address, acknowledged the University’s ongoing support and highlighted the workshop’s significance.

Presentations were delivered by several experts, including Professor Andrew Zamani, who provided an overview of research. Professor Ibrahim G. Umar of Kaduna State University spoke on selecting and defining research problems, while Dr. Mohammed Bello Baban Umma from the Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies presented on literature review.

The workshop also featured presentations on research design and data analysis, with contributions from Professor Hauwa Evelyn Yusuf and Dr. Abdul Adamu. The event concluded with Professor Sam Smah of Nile University, Abuja, discussing dissertation and thesis writing, and Dr. Comfort Adokwe Obed of NSUK’s Centre for Gender Studies explaining postgraduate regulations.

The workshop ended with the presentation of certificates of attendance to the participants.
