Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in unlocking the full potential of students. Speaking at the 13th Annual National Conference/Workshop organized by the English Language Teachers Association of Nigeria (ELTAN), in partnership with the Department of English and Literary Studies, FULafia, Abdul Rahman highlighted the importance of educators in shaping students' futures.

Represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Aleruchi Chuku, Abdul Rahman commended ELTAN for their efforts in organizing the conference, stating such initiatives were crucial for enhancing the university's visibility. He encouraged teachers to employ innovative methods to make the English language engaging for students.

Themed "Advances in ELT for Pedagogical Implementation of 21st Century Skills," the event was a collaborative effort with the British Council, IATEFL Associate, Africa ELTA, and FULafia. 

Dr. Kennedy O. Edegbe, President of ELTAN, expressed gratitude to the vice-chancellor and the Department of English and Literary Studies for hosting the conference, calling it “a remarkable event.”

Professor Muhammad Tanko Aliyu, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, praised the department for its commitment to hosting annual conferences, while Professor Halima Idris Amali, Head of the Department of English and Literary Studies, thanked Abdul Rahman for his unwavering support.

Keynote speaker, Professor Adewole A. Alagbe from Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), delivered an insightful lecture on "A Sociolinguistic Perspective of Development in ELT for Pedagogical Implementation of 21st Century Skills." He emphasized the global significance of the English language and the necessity for more dynamic methodological approaches to meet contemporary educational demands.

The conference concluded with a vibrant dance performance by students from the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, held at the Mallam Adamu Adamu Twin Hall, Permanent Site Campus, FULafia.
