Iresi Community Polytechnic in Osun State has launched an initiative aimed at curbing internet fraud among its students, popularly known as "yahoo yahoo." This decision was announced by Chief Oludaisi Aina, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, following a recent board meeting.
The initiative, titled 'Operation No Yahoo,' seeks to dissuade students from engaging in illegal activities and promote the proper use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) knowledge. Chief Aina emphasized the institution's commitment to nurturing students' talents through innovation hubs that will support productive ventures.
Speaking on behalf of the polytechnic, Public Relations Officer Alade Adesesan highlighted that the initiative extends beyond campus borders to include the wider community, ensuring a holistic approach to combating internet fraud. He underscored that 'Operation No Yahoo' will not only focus on awareness campaigns but will also involve practical measures and collaborations with law enforcement agencies to maintain a crime-free environment.
