The University of Lagos Business School (ULBS) has commenced preparations for the 2025/2026 academic session with a high-impact hybrid workshop for its facilitators, held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) Conference Room, UNILAG.

The University of Lagos Business School (ULBS) has commenced preparations for the 2025/2026 academic session with a high-impact hybrid workshop for its facilitators, held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) Conference Room, UNILAG.

The event, which brought together about 120 participants from academia and industry, reflected the school’s focus on excellence, innovation, and transformative learning.

Setting the tone, Executive Director of ULBS, Prof. Mike Adebamowo, welcomed participants, while the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. ‘Muyiwa Falaiye, commended the school’s commitment to punctuality and professionalism. Prof. Falaiye, in his remarks, referenced the “Cobra Effect,” cautioning facilitators about unintended consequences of poorly aligned incentives and urging them to take responsibility for their actions.

Director of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme, Dr. Simeon Ifere, introduced participants to the Case Study Methodology, highlighting its demanding, participant-centred nature, its focus on learning rather than teaching, and its reliance on asking the right questions to foster engagement. His session included an interactive case discussion that enabled facilitators to experience the methodology firsthand.

On facilitation pitfalls, Executive MBA Programme Coordinator, Prof. Folake Olowokudejo, outlined common errors under teaching, engagement, and professionalism. She stressed the need for clear objectives, inclusive participation, adequate preparation, and adherence to professional standards, while encouraging facilitators to seek feedback and refine their approaches.

Prof. Adebamowo further emphasized professionalism by presenting the ULBS Code of Conduct, covering areas such as digital etiquette, equal opportunity, timely grading, and dress code compliance.

In a session focused on technology, Acting Director of Nithub, UNILAG, Dr. Victor Odumuyiwa, guided participants on effective use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching. He called for responsible application of AI, promoting critical thinking, creativity, and digital dexterity among students.

Wrapping up the event, pioneer Executive Director of ULBS and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS), Prof. Abraham Osinubi, urged facilitators to embrace storytelling as a teaching tool and ensure DBA theses address national challenges.

The workshop concluded with a group photograph, marking a day of collaboration and shared commitment to shaping transformative leaders through rigorous, relevant, and responsible education.
