The University of Lagos will hold a blended meeting of Congregation on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, in line with Article 4 (2), Fourth Schedule of the UNILAG Act, 1967.

The agenda includes adoption of the agenda, reading and adoption of minutes from the September 12, 2024 meeting, the Vice-Chancellor’s address, comments from members, the election of a Congregation Representative into Council (Congregation Paper No. 2025/001), and other business.

The University has reiterated its resolutions on membership eligibility. According to the May 24, 1967 Senate resolution, graduate members of the Library, Administrative and Technical staff, and other approved posts are deemed members of Congregation. The June 29, 2016 Senate resolution specifies that only a first university degree qualifies for membership; HND holders, even with a Master’s degree, are ineligible.

Election Guidelines
Eligible members are to confirm their names on the Congregation register via the University website from September 5 to 12, using their UNILAG email address. Complaints on eligibility can be addressed to the Deputy Registrar, HRMD, between September 10 and 12. Updates on eligibility will be concluded by September 16.

Nomination forms for the elective position are available online and at faculties, departments, and units. Completed forms, with an attached photograph, must be submitted to the Senate and Ceremonies Unit by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18. A list of nominated candidates will be published online by 7:00 p.m. that day.

E-Voting Process
Accreditation and voting will be electronic. The meeting link and passcode will be sent to members’ UNILAG emails before the meeting. E-voting will begin after the meeting, with eligible voters receiving access codes by 8:00 a.m. on September 19. Voting will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The principle of “one man, one vote” applies, and members without an active UNILAG email cannot vote. Results will be announced on the University website after the exercise.
