UNILORIN Takes Swift Action: Expels 6 Final Year Students, 13 Others for Various Offences
The offences committed by the students ranged from misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, to beating a fellow student and involvement in admission racketeering.
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has taken disciplinary action against 19 students, including six final-year students, for their alleged involvement in various offences.
The Director of Corporate Affairs of the University, Kunle Akogun, revealed in a press statement that the Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole, SAN, approved the expulsion and rustication of the affected students. This decision came following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 220th/221st meeting.
The offences committed by the students ranged from misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, to beating a fellow student and involvement in admission racketeering.
According to the statement, the penalties imposed on the students included rustication for either one semester or one academic session, as well as expulsion. The affected students were from different academic levels, including 100, 200, 300, and 400 Levels.
