Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) is developing a Mobile Library App to enhance access to academic materials for students and lecturers. The University Librarian, Dr. Kudirat Abiola Adegoke, emphasized the need for full utilization of resources at the Abdullahi Fodio Library, which contains over 200,000 academic materials.

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) is set to develop a Mobile Library App aimed at enhancing access to academic materials for students and lecturers.

The University Librarian, Dr. Kudirat Abiola Adegoke, revealed this initiative during an interactive session with staff members, emphasizing efforts to ensure the full utilization of the abundant academic resources available at the Abdullahi Fodio Library.

According to Dr. Adegoke, the university has invested millions of Naira in academic materials catering to undergraduate and postgraduate students. However, she expressed concerns over the low number of students visiting the library daily despite its vast resources.

“Our e-Learning unit houses over 200,000 academic materials that can facilitate seamless learning and research,” she stated.

Similarly, the ICT Librarian, Dr. Isa Abubakar, highlighted the availability of a 100-seat ICT unit equipped with fully internet-connected computers for students and lecturers. He lamented that despite the university investing ₦40 million annually to equip the unit, daily visits remain significantly low, with fewer than five students utilizing the facility.

Dr. Abubakar urged the university community to take full advantage of the resources provided, stressing that the Mobile Library App will bridge accessibility gaps and encourage academic engagement.
