350 Edo, Delta Teachers Graduate from Seplat Education Programme
Dr. Joan Ovaiwe, the Edo State Commissioner for Education, expressed gratitude to Seplat JV Energy and NNPCL for their support in Edo and Delta states. She highlighted Governor Godwin Obaseki's focus on education reform through the Edo Best framework over the past seven years.
A total of 350 teachers from public and private schools in Edo and Delta states celebrated their graduation from the Seplat JV Energy education empowerment programme in the host communities. The programme, known as Seplat Teachers Empowerment Programme (STEP), focused on training teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) in collaboration with NNPC Limited.
Chioma Afe, the Director of Seplat External Affairs and Sustainability, emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping the workforce and driving economic development. Speaking at the company’s education summit and graduation ceremony in Benin, Afe highlighted the importance of collective efforts in building a skilled and productive workforce.

The collaboration between the private sector, educational institutions, and the government is seen as essential to improving the quality of teaching and learning outcomes, according to Afe. She noted that despite efforts to increase access to quality education, disparities in resources persist across different regions, especially in secondary education.
Samson Ezugworie, the Chief Operating Officer of Seplat, acknowledged the challenges within the country's education system and emphasized the company's commitment to addressing them. He underscored the importance of youth development for national progress and highlighted the collaborative efforts between Seplat, senior partners, and state governments in driving educational initiatives.
