Alleged Financial Scandal Unfolds at Amuzu Technical College in Ebonyi
Concerned parents of students at Amuzu Technical College in Ebonyi State accuse PTA Chairman, Financial Secretary, and PRO of squandering over N15 million, demanding transparency and investigation.
Parents of students at Federal Science Technical College, FSTC, Amuzu, located in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, have raised concerns over an alleged financial mismanagement within the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the institution. The parents, operating under the banner of Concerned Parents, convened a press briefing in Abakaliki to shed light on their grievances.
According to Mr. Okoro Chukwu Olughu, the treasurer of the PTA, the executive members of the PTA, including Chairman Monday Eze, Financial Secretary Mrs. Nwali Nkechi, and PRO Mr. Ogbonnaya James, have been accused of recklessly expending over fifteen million naira from the association's funds. Olughu stated that these expenditures lacked transparency and failed to yield any substantial improvements to the college's infrastructure.

The allegations against Chairman Monday Eze include bypassing proper procurement procedures, dictating that all financial transactions be routed through his personal account, and initiating projects without adequate cost-benefit analyses. Furthermore, the group alleges that Eze, in collusion with accounting officers from a local bank, disabled alerts for withdrawals from the PTA account, suggesting an attempt to conceal financial activities.

In response to the allegations, both Mrs. Nwali Nkechi and James Ogbonnaya denied any wrongdoing. However, Chairman Monday Eze declined to comment on the matter, citing transit.
