The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Professor Edward Olanipekun, has called on governments at all levels to allocate more funds dedicated to research activities in universities. During a media chat in Ado Ekiti, the professor highlighted the capital-intensive nature of research and the significant financial resources required for groundbreaking studies.

Professor Olanipekun acknowledged the positive strides made by the state-owned university in research, citing the recent commissioning of the Office of Research, Development, and Innovation. He emphasized the importance of government support, particularly through funds set aside for universities to conduct extensive research.

In advising undergraduates, he encouraged them to acquire practical skills through entrepreneurship centers on campuses. The university, according to him, has a robust entrepreneurship study center where students are required to learn various skills before graduation. This, he believes, will equip graduates for self-reliance and entrepreneurship opportunities beyond seeking traditional employment.
