The affected schools include Evangel School, Ivory Education Centre, Eastview Nursery and Primary School, St. Michael Nursery and Primary School, St. Bartholomew Nursery, Primary and Secondary School, and Olive Grove Nursery and Primary Academy. Prof. Mbah explained that the government had previously issued a directive requiring all educational institutions to comply with state regulations, including obtaining registration and approval from the ministry. The commissioner expressed regret over the poor conditions in some schools, citing issues such as open roofs, fallen rafters, and severely cracked walls. He emphasized the government’s commitment to raising education standards, ensuring qualified teachers, adhering to the curriculum, providing a conducive learning environment, and ensuring student safety.

Prof. Mbah also condemned the proliferation of illegal schools, where unqualified teachers and unsafe conditions put students at risk. He noted that the government’s actions aim to restore dignity to education in Enugu State and ensure children receive a quality education that prepares them for future success.
