The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Auchi Polytechnic in a strategic move to expand its academic outreach and strengthen access to higher education across its catchment areas and neighbouring states.

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Auchi Polytechnic in a strategic move to expand its academic outreach and strengthen access to higher education across its catchment areas and neighbouring states.

The partnership, executed through FUL’s Directorate of Distance and E-Learning, is designed to establish new academic centres that will improve grassroots access to quality university education.

The agreement was formally signed on December 1, 2025, in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, and the Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar. The collaboration is anchored by the Directorate of Distance and E-Learning under the leadership of Professor Musa Adeku Ibrahim.

Key officials of the University were in attendance to witness the signing, including the Registrar, Dr. Rebecca Okojie; the Bursar, Mr. Shilo John Sule; and the Legal Officer, Mrs. Amina Aliyu Ahmadu, who confirmed that all documents satisfied required legal and administrative standards.

Speaking at the event, Professor Akinwumi expressed satisfaction with the growing influence of Federal University Lokoja within Nigeria’s higher education space. He commended the commitment of the University’s management team, describing the partnership as a reflection of FUL’s steady rise as a centre of academic excellence driven by experienced professionals.

The agreement is expected to enhance inter-institutional collaboration, promote flexible learning options, and widen educational opportunities for students across Edo, Kogi, and neighbouring states through shared academic infrastructure and distance learning platforms.
