FUNAAB Hosts Teach For Nigeria's 2025 Pre-Service Training Institute
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has successfully hosted the Induction Ceremony of the Ninth Cohort of Fellows and the Fifth Cohort of School Leaders, marking the conclusion of the 2025 Pre-Service Training Institute (PSTI) organized by Teach For Nigeria (TFN).
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the impact of the TFN initiative, noting that the programme has not only shaped the Fellows and school leaders but also enriched the University Community.
- Over 700 Fellows from across the country participated in the in-person phase of the PSTI at FUNAAB.
- The PSTI is a six-week programme designed to equip Fellows with advanced skills in pedagogy, literacy, numeracy, and leadership.
- The Vice-Chancellor charged the Fellows to translate the knowledge and skills acquired into classrooms and communities, stressing that the future of the nation rests on their ability to unlock the potential of children across Nigeria.
- "For us at FUNAAB, we feel like Associate Fellows ourselves. What you have deposited in these young leaders is not just for their benefit but for the sake of our country." - Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, Vice-Chancellor, FUNAAB.
- "Education is dignity, shelter, opportunity, and, for many children, a lifeline." - Mrs. Rhoda Odigboh, Chief Executive Officer, Kizazi.
The TFN initiative aims to shape the future of Nigerian children by developing the skills and knowledge of teachers and school leaders. The programme aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 8, and 17, which focus on quality education, decent work and economic growth, and partnerships for the goals, respectively.
