In a bid to tackle Nigeria’s pressing security and unemployment issues, Professor Olabode Olatubosun, a distinguished expert in Computer Science specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI and ML) at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has underscored the critical role of AI and ML technologies. Professor Olatubosun made these recommendations during his 165th inaugural lecture held at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium of FUTA on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Addressing the audience on the topic "Machine Learning: Pattern Matching and Classification Experience with Technology to Solve Human Problems," Professor Olatubosun emphasized the potential of AI to enhance security measures through advanced crime detection mechanisms. He proposed the implementation of AI-driven surveillance systems equipped with facial recognition and object detection capabilities to bolster proactive security measures against banditry, insurgency, and other serious crimes.
