ICAN Accredits Accounting Department of TSUJ: Team Rates Programme High

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) accreditation team conducted a visit to Taraba State University, Jalingo on January 16, 2024, to assess the university's Accounting programme and ensure its adherence to standards.

The four-member ICAN delegation, led by Prof. Isaq Mohammed from Bayero University, Kano, included Associate Prof. Saidu Adamu from Federal University Kashere in Gombe State, Dr. Saidu Bello from Bayero University Kano, and Mr. Momo from Lagos, representing the registrar of ICAN.

Upon receiving the delegation, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, the Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, expressed the university's commitment to quality education. He assured the ICAN team of the university's readiness to collaborate for the advancement of its programmes.

Acknowledging the accounting profession's contributions to national development, Prof. Bako emphasized the importance of maintaining existing structures and enhancing professionalism across all programmes.

During the exit briefing, Prof. Isaq praised the university's efforts in teaching accounting and commended its physical and functional facilities. The team particularly highlighted the university's excellence in library, laboratory, and internet resources, as well as its strong human capacity.

ICAN recognized the presence of an ample number of Chartered Accountants within the Department of Accounting and commended their role in providing students with practical insights into the evolving tenets of the accounting profession.

The accreditation exercise concluded with an exit briefing at the Senate Chambers, where the ICAN team expressed confidence that university has the ability to secure re-accreditation based on what the team has observed and the fact that was presented assessments.
