Kwara State Governor Empowers FULafia Graduands, Strengthening Entrepreneurship in Nasarawa State

Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has called on youths to make good use of the skills they have gained to be self-employed and employers of labour. 

While appreciating the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A Sule, for fulfilling the promise he made during the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th combined convocation ceremony of the FULafia to train and give start-up capital to University’s students who graduated with first class honours, said: “Thank you for making these young people self-reliant and, hopefully, employers of labour.”

He said that the gesture made by the governor would further strengthen the existing relationship between the University and Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia.

The vice-chancellor spoke at the institute during the graduation ceremony of 50 first class graduates of FULafia who were trained by the vocational training institute.

In his speech, the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, admonished leaders in the state to support the government in its quest to industrialise the state.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the executive director of the institute, Dr Daniel Ewuga, commended the sponsors of the graduands, calling for more support from well-to-do individuals in the state to make youth productive and alleviate poverty in the state.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates and award of cheques of N500,000, each, by the Nasarawa State Government to the 50 first class graduands of the University as start-up capital.

The event was graced by many dignitaries including the registrar of the university, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, the head of academic affairs unit Mr Farouq Nasslead Ahmed, Special Assistant as well as Personal Secretary to the vice-chancellor, Musa Bashir Agbawu and Bashir Ozomata, respectively.
