The 12th Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU) concluded its annual tour at the Epe campus on 20th February 2025, inspecting ongoing projects and facilities.

On Thursday, 20th February 2025, the 12th Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU) successfully concluded its annual tour with an inspection of projects and facilities at the Epe campus.

Leading the delegation, the Pro-Chancellor, Sir David Sumoni FCA, KJW, accompanied by members of the Governing Council, the university management team, and other staff, assessed the condition of various infrastructure and ongoing projects. In his remarks, Sir Sumoni emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability within the institution to foster progress and excellence.

“Part of our oversight function is to ensure the welfare of both staff and students, as well as to review the infrastructure and ongoing projects at the Epe campus,” he stated. He assured the campus leadership that all requests presented by the Head of Campus had been duly noted but stressed that priorities must be set to optimize resources effectively.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, expressed her appreciation to the Pro-Chancellor for his unwavering support of her administration. She also commended the Head of Campus, Prof. Elkanah Oyetunji, for his diligent administration, effective management of staff duties, and commitment to student welfare.

Highlighting the university’s development strides, Prof. Oyetunji acknowledged several initiatives by the current administration, including the newly established 350-seat Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre funded by TETFund, newly constructed student hostels, and the renovation of staff quarters.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor extended the operating time of the solar lights in the hostels from three hours to four hours daily, further demonstrating the institution’s commitment to student welfare.

Prof. Oyetunji welcomed the Governing Council and university management to the Epe campus, emphasizing that their presence reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to the campus’s growth and development. He expressed gratitude for the completed and ongoing projects, while also presenting new requests to further enhance the campus.

“The remarkable progress at LASU Epe campus is a testament to the steadfast commitment of the university’s leadership to infrastructure development, academic excellence, and student welfare,” he concluded.

The tour included visits to key locations such as the CCTV Control Room, Student Hostels, MAC Project, Epe Campus Second Gate, ABT Aircraft, Staff Club, Squash Game Hall, Agricultural Farm, Perimeter Fencing, and the Tunji Bello Auditorium (OBA).
