She explained that Nasarawa State has recorded notable progress in addressing challenges affecting the girl child, particularly in education, health and social inclusion. According to her, the domestication of the State Action Plan (SAP) derived from the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 has strengthened programmes aimed at addressing the immediate and long-term needs of women and children.

Professor Liman attributed these achievements to the strong advocacy of the First Lady of Nasarawa State, Her Excellency, Hajiya Salifat Abdullahi Sule, whose commitment has continued to inspire policies that promote the welfare and advancement of the girl child.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that empowering the girl child is critical to national development, noting that educated and empowered girls contribute significantly to economic growth, improved health outcomes and positive social transformation.

She further commended the Nasarawa State Government for appointing women into strategic leadership positions, including Permanent Secretaries, Commissioners, Chief Judge, Head of Civil Service and Director-General of the Human Capital Development Agency, as well as the appointment of Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim as Honourable Minister of Women Affairs.
