NUC Grants Covenant University License for Open and Distance e-Learning

He expressed concerns over the limited admission capacity of tertiary institutions, noting that four out of every five admission seekers are often unable to secure admission.

NUC Grants Covenant University License for Open and Distance e-Learning

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially authorized Covenant University to operate an e-learning platform, named the 'Covenant Centre for Open and Distance e-learning (CCODeL).'

The license, granted by the NUC, permits the university to launch the program, commencing with the Computer Science program.

Adebayo emphasized that the newly accredited distance e-learning platform aims to address the admission deficit in Nigeria and contribute to educational advancement in Africa. He highlighted the platform's flexibility, enabling learners to enroll and study at their own pace without geographical constraints or the rigid structure of traditional classrooms.

The Vice-Chancellor underscored the significance of the e-learning platform in expanding access to quality education, emphasizing the university's dedication to innovation, excellence, and inclusivity in higher education.

"We have only been able to admit one out of every five persons into our computer science programme at Covenant University, and this is because of the post-COVID pandemic that has led to the high demand for ICT related education, and certifications," stated Adebayo.

He further emphasized the university's commitment to its Christian Mission Ethos and its vision to nurture a new generation of leaders while restoring the dignity of the black race. Adebayo assured prospective students that the open and distance e-learning program provides an alternative pathway for admission to Covenant University.
