Taraba Governor Launches Students' Identification System as Part of Free Education Initiative

Taraba State governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, inaugurated the Taraba State Students Identification System (TESIS) in Jalingo on Wednesday, marking a significant step in the implementation of the state's free education policy.

TESIS, a data-capturing system, aims to accurately document the number of schools and students across the entire state.

Governor Kefas reaffirmed the government's commitment to free education, emphasizing the pivotal role of data in the program. He stressed that while every child in the state is entitled to free education, parents must ensure their children's availability for schooling.

Highlighting the importance of teachers in the policy, Governor Kefas promised to motivate them to contribute significantly to the learning process.The governor announced the official alleviation of the financial burden of education from parents and urged all stakeholders to collaborate with the government to enhance the educational model.

In her remarks, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, lauded the governor's proactive approach in translating the free education policy into action. She commended the architectural quality of the newly constructed schools.

The program included a demonstration of data capturing by the governor, who personally registered some students.The launch of TESIS signifies a milestone in the realization of free education in Taraba State, underscoring the government's commitment to providing accessible and quality education to all students in the state.
