UNILAG Vice-Chancellor Urges Academics to Renew Commitment to Purpose

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, has called on academics and researchers to reaffirm their commitment to the intellectual community's core purpose. Speaking at a training workshop at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUTECH), Prof. Ogunsola emphasized the importance of fostering a vibrant academic culture that promotes innovative research, excellent teaching, and staff development.

Addressing the theme, "Strengthening University Culture: Making the Universities Great," Prof. Ogunsola acknowledged the challenges faced by the academic community due to government policies but commended their resilience amidst adversity. She advocated for collaboration between government, stakeholders, and academia to drive policies and infrastructural development that support groundbreaking research and national progress.
Highlighting the evolving nature of the education sector, Prof. Ogunsola cautioned against the growing disparity between academic qualifications and industry skills. She urged faculty members to cultivate solution-oriented skills and adapt to technological advancements shaping the educational landscape.
