Yobe Spelling Bee Volunteer Teacher Gains Permanent Role as Governor Buni Rewards Educators

The Secretary/Acting Chair of Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), along with other staff members and the Local Organizing Committee of the 2nd Spelling Bee Competition, presented a permanent and pensionable appointment letter to Malama Fatima Abdullahi Jibrin. The appointment was made on behalf of the Yobe State Government (YBSG).

Malama Fatima Abdullahi Jibrin, who coached the 1st Runner-Up to victory in the last Spelling Bee Competition, expressed her gratitude and surprise, stating, "Everything is coming to me so fast and unexpectedly. I was even mocked when I decided to support my candidate at the competition, but I thank Allah for this opportunity and pray for His Excellency Governor Buni."

Governor Mai Mala Buni CON also awarded cash donations of 500,000 Naira to each of the teachers who coached the first, second, and third-place winners of the competition. In a generous act, Malama Fatima Abdullahi Jibrin donated 200,000 Naira of her 500,000 Naira reward to the school where she volunteered, now her permanent employer.

In his remarks, the Secretary/Acting Chair of SUBEB mentioned that Governor Buni has instructed them to develop plans to improve the working conditions of all teachers and to find ways to absorb committed and dedicated volunteer teachers into the system.
