The Zamfara State government has allocated N1.5 billion towards the renovation and upgrading of hostels in two key educational institutions within the state. This investment marks the first phase of a comprehensive intervention aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure.
The beneficiaries of this initial phase are the Government Science Secondary School and the Zamfara State College of Arts and Science (ZACAS). The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Education, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, during an on-the-spot assessment of the completed projects.
Madawaki attributed this significant development to the declaration of a state of emergency on education by Governor Dauda Lawal. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the renovation work carried out by the contractors at both institutions.

Highlighting the administration's focus, Madawaki revealed that the state government is placing special emphasis on science, technical, and entrepreneurial education, particularly targeting female students. Plans are in advanced stages for the establishment of nine technical education schools, with three schools designated in each senatorial district.
"To develop science, technical, and entrepreneurship skills, nine schools have been earmarked across the state," he added. Specifically, entrepreneurship education will be incorporated at the Girl Child Schools of Girls Secondary School Moriki, Government Girls College Talata Mafara, and Government Girls Unity School Kotorkoshi.
In a bid to enhance educational quality, the state government also plans to recruit 200 qualified teachers specializing in technical and vocational education.
The Education Commissioner urged students at ZACAS to leverage the new infrastructure to improve their academic performance, emphasizing the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for educational advancement in Zamfara State.
