Adekunle Ajasin University Alumni Donates 5KVA Solar Power System

The Alumni Association of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, has donated a 5KVA solar power system worth N4 million to the university's Exams and Records Unit to ensure uninterrupted power supply and improve transcript processing.

The Alumni Association of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, has generously donated a 5KVA solar power generating set worth N4 million to the university's Exams and Records Unit. This significant contribution aims to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, facilitating the seamless processing of academic transcripts.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Alumni President Olumide Olugbemi-Gabriel highlighted the project's importance in addressing the delays in transcript processing caused by inconsistent power supply. The reliance on town electricity and the high costs associated with running generators have long posed challenges for the university.

Olugbemi-Gabriel emphasized that this solar power initiative would strengthen the relationship between the university management and its alumni, many of whom require transcripts for further education or career opportunities abroad.

The Alumni President also announced plans to invest approximately N50 million in an ongoing hostel project in 2024, aimed at alleviating accommodation shortages. He urged alumni worldwide to contribute financially to this cause, reinforcing the association's commitment to improving university infrastructure.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Olugbenga Ige lauded the Alumni Association for its continuous support and provision of critical infrastructure. He noted that the Exams and Records Unit's computers, furniture, and now the solar power system were all alumni donations. Additionally, alumni from the Departments of Economics and Biochemistry have also implemented solar power projects in their respective departments.
