In a significant move to enhance the quality of education in Anambra State, the State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has facilitated the distribution of instructional materials, monitoring vehicles, and other essential equipment to Primary and Junior Secondary Schools across the state.

Under the Universal Basic Education (UBE) initiative, Governor Chukwuma Soludo demonstrated his commitment to education by allocating over N3 billion as the state counterpart fund, matching the Federal Government’s contribution towards procuring these materials.

The distribution event, held at the ASUBEB headquarters in Awka, showcased a range of items provided to the schools, including Galaxy tablets for Quality Assurance evaluators, UPS stabilizers, textbooks for English, Mathematics, and Core Subjects, as well as various furniture and shuttle buses for supervision purposes.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the State Head of Service, Barr. Theodora Igwegbe, representing Governor Soludo, emphasized the governor's dedication to addressing the challenges facing the education sector. She highlighted the governor's recent initiatives, such as distributing laptops to teachers, as part of his efforts to drive digitization in education.

Acknowledging Governor Soludo's commitment, the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Associate Prof. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, commended the governor for clearing the backlog of UBEC funds owed by the state for three years. She underscored the importance of these funds in renovating school structures and providing educational materials.

Describing Governor Soludo as a true champion of education, Nwadinobi outlined various achievements in the education sector during his tenure, including the recruitment of 5,000 teachers, elimination of levies for primary and JSS classes, and improvements in teacher welfare.
