Bayero University SERVICOM Directorate Collaborates with School of Continuing Education to Enhance Service Delivery

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve service delivery, the Directorate of SERVICOM at Bayero University Kano (BUK) held a high-level meeting with the management and stakeholders of the School of Continuing Education (SCE) on January 3, 2025.

 

The meeting aimed to address key challenges facing the SCE, including delays in invigilation and marking, gaps in timely production of transcripts, and concerns regarding continuous assessment tests. These issues have reportedly affected the institution's reputation, with BUK graduates missing opportunities due to transcript delays.

The Director of SERVICOM, Professor Aliyu Muazu, emphasized the importance of maintaining excellence in education and administrative processes. He urged lecturers to demonstrate greater punctuality, dedication, and commitment, highlighting their pivotal role in sustaining the school's excellence.

 

The Dean of the School of Continuing Education, Professor Usman Dau Aliyu, represented by Deputy Dean Dr. Balarabe Abubakar, welcomed the SERVICOM team and acknowledged the challenges facing the SCE. He highlighted issues such as inadequate infrastructure, including power supply, office furniture, and roof leakages, as well as poor water systems and late reception of information.

The SCE team also emphasized the need for inclusion in the BOOK REST system to facilitate result compilation, a challenge that has hindered their efforts despite repeated requests.

 

The SERVICOM Directorate reassured the SCE management and staff of its commitment to supporting and addressing their concerns, rather than victimizing individuals. The meeting marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to enhance service delivery and address the challenges facing the School of Continuing Education.
