BOSU Hosts Three-Day Capacity Building Workshop on Undergraduate Research Projects

The workshop organized by the Center for Research and Development was declared open by the Vice Chancellor, Borno State University Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe 

VC. BOSU, Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe in his opening remarks welcomed the participants and facilitators, and urged the participants to take advantage of the training workshop and come up with good research topic to improve on their capacity to deliver efficient service to the university.

 He assured that the university management will continue to organize such training programme for the purpose of capacity building, and implored the participants to make maximum use of what they learnt at the workshop.

In an address of welcome the Director Centre for Research and Development Professor Yahaya O. Imam said, it is the first Capacity Building Workshop on Undergraduate Research Project for Coordinators, Supervisors and Final Year Student of the Young but fast Growing University.

He said the decision to organize this workshop was taken by the Senate of BOSU at one of its meetings this year when Distinguished Member of Senate expressed concern that bearing in mind the University will be graduating its first set of student this year and one of the requirement for graduation is writing of a final year research project, there is need for such workshop 

He said the Center quickly swang into action by identify scholars on four core areas of writing a Research Project namely Anatomy of Undergraduate Research Project, Time Management in the Writing, Supervision and Coordination of Undergraduate Research Project, Ethical Issue in Research with Emphasis on Undergraduate Research Project and Scoring Guideline for Undergraduate Research Project.

Facilitators were equally Identified to speak on each of the four topics in details at the plenary session. 

There is also technical sessions where components of the

plenary presentations were addressed by scholars drawn from each of the three faculties graduating students this year. 

He commended the university management under the VC Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe for the support and encouragement since the establishment of the center.

Certificate, were presented to resource persons by the VC, Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe, in appreciation of their huge contribution to success of the workshop
