Caleb University VC Prof. Asikhia Advocates for Radical Reform at National Postgraduate Summit
Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, has called for a comprehensive overhaul of postgraduate administration in Nigeria, urging institutions to transition from manual clerical processes to technology-driven governance.
Delivering the keynote address at the 3rd Annual General Meeting and 5th Workshop of the Committee of Secretaries of Postgraduate Colleges and Schools (CSPGCS), Prof. Asikhia positioned postgraduate administrators as "strategic linchpins" essential to Nigeria’s knowledge economy.
The summit, hosted by Akwa Ibom State University from February 3 to 6, 2026, focused on the theme: “Enhancing Quality Service Delivery in Postgraduate Administration for Nigerian Universities.”
In his address, Prof. Asikhia highlighted that the global competitiveness of Nigerian universities depends on their ability to eliminate administrative opacity. Drawing on successful models implemented at Caleb University, he advocated for:
Integrated Management Systems: Deploying digital platforms to track thesis processing and graduation timelines.
Data-Driven Governance: Moving away from manual bottlenecks that delay research productivity.
Systemic Agility: Encouraging administrators to evolve from "secretaries of process" into "strategic leaders of systems and culture."
