The protest, led by ASUU members, highlighted several issues they claim reflect the management's insensitivity towards their welfare. Key concerns raised by the protesting staff include promotions without corresponding financial benefits, selective salary payments, and the non-payment of salary arrears and earned academic allowances.
"We are facing serious challenges here at IMSU," remarked one of the protesting lecturers. "Despite our dedication and hard work, many of us have not received our rightful salary arrears and allowances. This situation is affecting our morale and livelihood."
Additionally, the staff expressed dissatisfaction with the non-remittance of union check-off and welfare dues, alongside concerns about the university's inclusion in the Treasury Single Accounts (TSA) system, which they allege has exacerbated financial delays and administrative bottlenecks.
