Nasarawa State University Moves to Establish Students' Representative Council

Nasarawa State University (NSUK) has initiated the process of creating a Students' Representative Council (SRC) to replace the suspended Student Union Government (SUG) structure.
This decision follows a meeting between the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) and Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments on January 15, 2025.
The university's management has directed the Dean of the Faculty of Education to submit a list of 400-level (or 500-level) course representatives along with their Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPAs) at the end of the second semester of their 300-level (or 400-level) studies. The list should also identify the male and female students with the highest CGPAs.¹
This development comes after the suspension of the SUG structure due to the unfortunate election crisis that occurred on September 4/5, 2024. The establishment of the SRC aims to provide a new model of governance for student representation in the university.
