TRCN Inducts 376 LASU Graduates into Teaching Profession; Dean Highlights Commitment to Excellence"

In a recent development, the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) welcomed 376 fresh graduates from Lagos State University, Ojo, into the esteemed teaching profession during an induction ceremony held in Lagos.

The induction ceremony, which took place in the bustling city, saw Prof. Solomon Makinde, the Dean of the Faculty of Education at LASU, taking the stage to address the newly minted educators. Makinde took the opportunity to underscore LASU's commitment to furnishing its students with a comprehensive curriculum, digital literacy, and robust teaching practice experiences.

According to Makinde, LASU is deeply committed to bridging the gaps within the teaching profession in Nigeria's fifth-largest economy. In line with this commitment, he unveiled plans for an innovative Executive Pedagogy Programme. This initiative aims to refine the skills of non-registered lecturers, ultimately leading to their professionalization and registration with the TRCN.

Highlighting the pivotal role of professionalism in teaching for national progress, Makinde referred to the establishment of the TRCN and its pivotal mandate to regulate and uphold teaching standards across all levels of education, whether in the public or private sector.

The TRCN, an agency operating under the purview of the Federal Ministry of Education, was brought into existence by the TRCN Decree No. 31 of 1993 (now known as the TRCN Act CAP T3 of 2004). Its primary mission is to oversee and maintain the quality of the teaching profession in Nigeria, ensuring that educators uphold the highest standards of excellence.
