The University of Abuja's Governing Council has approved the promotion of 154 academic and non-teaching staff during its 98th regular meeting held from December 10 to 14, 2024.

The University of Abuja's Governing Council, under the leadership of Saddiq Kaita, has approved the promotion of 154 staff members across various academic and non-academic ranks. This decision was made during the council’s 98th regular meeting, held from December 10 to 14, 2024.

According to a statement issued by the university, 19 academic staff were promoted to the rank of professor, 14 to associate professor, 20 to senior lecturer, six to lecturer I, and one to lecturer II. Among non-teaching staff, 94 individuals were elevated, with two attaining the position of deputy director, six as assistant directors, and others to various grades.

Acting Vice-Chancellor, Aisha Maikudi, congratulated the promoted staff and praised their dedication, hard work, and discipline. She emphasized that the university remains committed to ensuring timely promotions for deserving staff members, with the council’s unwavering support.

“These promotions reflect the University of Abuja’s dedication to fostering excellence, recognizing merit, and encouraging growth among its staff. All outstanding backlogs of promotion cases have been meticulously reviewed and resolved, ensuring fairness and recognition for deserving staff,” Maikudi stated.

The Vice-Chancellor further assured that pending promotion cases are being addressed transparently, awaiting external assessment reports.
