During a courtesy visit by a team from the African Engineering and Technology Network (AFRETEC), Carnegie-Mellon University, Professor Ogunsola emphasized UNILAG's commitment to demand-driven research, entrepreneurship education, and startup technology culture development to drive developmental efforts.
The visit, which took place on May 27, 2024, saw the AFRETEC team, led by its Director Dr. Conrad Tucker, interact with various AFRETEC teams at UNILAG as part of their objective to promote inclusive digital growth across Africa.
Expressing gratitude for AFRETEC's support in acquiring Coursera training licenses for UNILAG staff and students, Professor Ogunsola highlighted the university's success stories in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship. She reiterated UNILAG's vision to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship among its students and the wider community.
In response, Dr. Tucker commended UNILAG's management for its support and outlined potential areas of collaboration between AFRETEC and the university. He reaffirmed AFRETEC's commitment to developing African engineering students' skills for digital transformation.

Professor Ismail Ibraheem, Director of UNILAG's Office of International Relations, Partnership and Prospects (IRPP), provided a summary of AFRETEC's support to the university, revealing that over 27,000 hours have been dedicated to the Coursera learning platform, with 2,217 UNILAG staff and students completing their online courses.
AFRETEC, established in 2022 with support from the Mastercard Foundation, is a pan-African collaboration comprising six technology-focused universities, including UNILAG. The consortium aims to promote inclusive digital transformation in Africa through various programs, research activities, and infrastructure upgrades.
