The University of Lagos Communication Unit has announced that the African Multiple Research Centre (AMRC), housed within the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS), is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for three contract positions: Head of Administration, IT Officer, and Administrative Assistant.

Job Title: Head of Administration
Location: Lagos State
Institution: UNILAG AMRC
Employment Type: Contract (3 years)

Position Summary
The Head of Administration will oversee the overall administration of the AMRC by providing strategic leadership and ensuring the effective management of all administrative functions. The role requires a result-oriented professional with a proven track record of leadership, organizational development, and project management experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and coordination for all administrative activities of the Centre.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and systems that enhance operations.
  • Manage facilities, logistics, and services that support research programs.
  • Advise senior management on governance, staffing, and organizational development.
  • Prepare and manage administrative budgets, reports, and records.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a good Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • At least twelve (12) years of progressive work experience, including substantial leadership responsibilities.
  • Professional certification(s) and membership of relevant bodies will be an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in project management is required.

Job Title: IT Officer
Location: Lagos State
Institution: UNILAG AMRC
Employment Type: Contract (3 years)

Position Summary
The IT Officer will manage the Centre’s IT infrastructure, oversee system administration, maintain digital platforms, and enhance the Centre’s online presence. The ideal candidate must be skilled in IT support, website management, and digital communication.

  • Manage system administration, including servers, networks, and user support.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the Centre’s website for security and functionality.
  • Oversee social media platforms to improve visibility and engagement.
  • Provide IT support to staff and researchers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement digital outreach strategies.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven experience in system administration and web development.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CMS platforms.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms.
  • At least one IT certification (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, CNE, Microsoft) will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Title: Administrative Assistant
Location: Lagos State
Institution: UNILAG AMRC
Employment Type: Contract (3 years)

Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant will provide essential support to ensure the smooth running of the Centre’s daily operations. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and clerical skills.

  • Handle day-to-day administrative and clerical tasks.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems, both physical and electronic.
  • Provide support including typing, photocopying, and scanning documents.
  • Assist in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and maintaining records.
  • Ensure confidentiality and uphold institutional policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Five (5) credits, including English and Mathematics at one sitting (SSCE/WASSCE or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
