The University of Maiduguri has issued a directive to its staff to ensure all electrical appliances and points are switched off after office hours. This reminder was conveyed in a circular signed by the Registrar, Ahmad A. Lawan, dated December 2, 2024. The directive stems from recommendations made by the Task Force on Electricity Supply on Campus, which were reviewed at the institution's 131st Top Management Committee meeting held on October 29, 2024.

The university management emphasized that compliance with this directive is essential to reducing unnecessary energy consumption and preventing fire outbreaks. Staff members are strongly urged to adhere to the guidelines to safeguard university property and enhance energy efficiency on campus.

To ensure compliance, the Chief Security Officer has been tasked with monitoring adherence to the directive. The circular further warned that defaulters would face disciplinary measures in accordance with the university's regulations.

The notice was copied to key officials, including the Vice-Chancellor, Bursar, University Librarian, Dean of Students’ Affairs, and relevant security personnel, ensuring broad awareness and cooperation.
